A Copilot readiness assessment asks whether the proposed users can reach information they should not. A controlled pilot asks whether selected workflows produce useful, reviewable results within an agreed boundary. An adoption review asks what happens after people receive access. Choose the engagement by the decision you need to make.
GlobalAdmins offers these as separate consulting scopes. Buying a pilot does not establish that every sharing issue has been reviewed, and assigning licenses does not prove a business benefit.
Start with the decision that is blocked
Ask the sponsor to finish this sentence: “We need evidence about ___ before we can decide ___.” If the unknown is broad sharing, site ownership, or an unclear access boundary, begin with readiness discovery. If the access boundary is understood and the unknown is workflow usefulness, consider a controlled pilot. If people already have licenses but use or value is unclear, consider adoption measurement.
| Engagement | Decision it supports | Evidence to agree before work |
|---|---|---|
| Readiness assessment | Proceed, remediate, or reduce the rollout boundary? | Sites and policies sampled, exposure findings, customer owners, approved changes, residual risk |
| Controlled pilot | Expand, revise, or stop the selected workflows? | User cohort, two use cases, quality checks, permission tests, exceptions, decision memo |
| Adoption review | Coach, reallocate, change a workflow, or expand? | Usage period, workflow baseline, review effort, quality measures, participant feedback |
The order depends on the environment. A team may need to resolve one access issue before testing a workflow rather than commissioning an unrestricted tenant-wide program.
What GlobalAdmins scopes for readiness
The Copilot Data Exposure Sprint has a planned 2–3-week boundary: up to 100 agreed SharePoint sites, selected OneDrive sharing policies, and up to 10 customer-approved high-risk remediation items. The handoff includes an evidence register, owners, a prioritized backlog, and a go/no-go memo. It does not guarantee complete tenant cleanup or zero exposure.
Microsoft's secure and governed deployment guidance treats oversharing and governance as deployment concerns. Confirm relevant licenses, available controls, and administrator roles against the actual tenant; a public checklist cannot establish those facts.
What changes when you choose a pilot
The Secure Copilot Pilot is planned for 3–4 weeks, with up to 25 users and two agreed use cases. Define a reference result, the human review needed, and the behavior expected when the available evidence cannot support an answer. Record useful results and exceptions together.
An impressive demonstration is one observation. The expansion decision needs representative tasks, agreed quality criteria, access checks, and a customer owner who accepts the remaining limitations. Staffing, prerequisites, dates, and fees are confirmed in writing before delivery.
When adoption measurement is the better question
For an existing rollout, the Copilot Value Sprint combines usage evidence with two priority workflows. A licensed user, an active user, a useful completed task, and a financial benefit are different measures. Our measurement guide explains how to keep them separate.
Bring enough information to scope the next step
Share the business decision, approximate user and site counts, sponsor, and desired timing. Explain known blockers without sending passwords or confidential tenant exports through the form. Use the consultation preparation guide to identify the owners and dependencies a proposal needs.
Describe your Copilot decision. Discovery determines which engagement, if any, fits your situation.
